GIVING BACK
In addition to describing the Dorrance Scholarship Programs, the
annual report traditionally profiles several recent alumni. This year, the
report focuses on a very special, larger group of graduates: those who
have worked in the Dorrance Foundation for Education office. Nineteen
former students have held positions as interns and staff members
since 2009.
A position with the Foundation allows graduates to give back to the
Program, to gain professional experience, and to collaborate with
peers. Our graduates’ passion for higher education combined with
their gratitude for the Dorrance award is an ideal profile for those who
will mentor new Dorrance Scholars. As you will learn on the following
pages, some alumni are long-time Foundation employees who have
chosen education as their life’s work.
In addition to the alumni profiled below, many, many former and current
Scholars contribute to the successful operation of the Foundation. We
find them presenting scholarships at high school award ceremonies;
serving on selection committees as application readers and
interviewers; and on panels discussing study abroad, graduate
school, and career paths.
The current classes of Dorrance Scholars, the focus and pride of
everyone who works for the Foundation, are featured here, too.
On behalf of our Founders, Jacquie and Bennett Dorrance, and the
Foundation’s Board of Directors and staff, we hope you enjoy and are
inspired by this report.
